KPop & Hip-Hop: The Opportunities Don’t Stop
What do two seemingly unrelated music genres have in common? The kids love them! Some physical retailers report that in December 2020, KPop cds accounted for more than 60% of their in-store sales and Hip-Hop albums accounted for more than a third of vinyl sales, despite them not having adequate stock. The fact is that KPop and Hip-Hop have stirred up a fervor that presents a great opportunity for independent record stores to reconnect with younger music fans and reclaim their role as cultural centers while creating customers for life. Join us as we learn more about the KPop and Hip-Hop communities — which are more widespread than you’d think — and highlight two companies whose recent releases in these genres showcase why retailers, wholesalers and record stores must work together to keep the (physical) music playing!
